E-MAIL HELP

What e-mail address should I tell people to use if they want to reach me?
If you have a Nordita e-mail address, which is of the form:
<firstname.lastname>@nordita.org
you should always use this address. (Actually, your "Nordita e-mail address" is just a prettified alias of the e-mail address connected with your KTH account, if you have one.)
If you have a Stockholm University e-mail address, which is of the form:
<firstname.lastname>@su.se
but no "Nordita e-mail address", you should use your SU mail address.

I prefer reading all my e-mail on Gmail. Can I get my Nordita e-mails redirected there?
No, unfortunately not. Stockholm University (and KTH) has strict policies forbidding forwarding mails to external mail service providers. What you can do is to configure a local mail client to fetch mail from several sources each into its own separate local mailbox.

Where do I read my incoming Nordita e-mail?
Stockholm University provides two ways for you to access your incoming e-mails and send e-mail:
  • via the SU Webmail at mail.su.se; you need to login with your Stockholm University username and password
  • If you prefer to read your mail via a mail client program installed on your local machine, such as Thunderbird, Mac Mail, Alpine, Mutt or Outlook or mail on cellphones. Configuration is done in different ways for different clients, but in all cases the following parameters characterizing your account need to be entered:

Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)
Server type: IMAP
Server name: ebox.su.se port 993 (try port 143 and connection STARTTLS if this doesn't work)
Secure connection: SSL/TLS
Authentication type: password

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
Server name: ebox.su.se port 587 (try port 465 and connection SSL/TLS if this doesn't work)
Secure connection: STARTTLS
Authentication type: password

Can I define a Nordita-adapted signature to be added automatically to all the e-mails I send?
Follow the instructions on how to create an e-mail signature in your Stockholm University webmail or in your local e-mail client. There are a number of suggestions you can copy.
