Different Kinds of Computer Accounts at Nordita
For historical and technical reasons, Nordita staff have been using several different computing accounts. These are the two accounts you need to make sure are activated:
- Your KTH Account
- This is your main account, with your mailbox (with mail address in the form <username>@kth.se) and your home directory. It also gives you access to some of the central KTH administrative systems.
- Your Nordita Account
- This is a set of aliases and settings, maintained localy at Nordita, that will enable you to use mail addresses in the form <username>@nordita.org or <firstname>.<lastname>@nordita.org and gives access to local administrative systems, such as the Nordita preprint database and the travel schedule. The idea is that, once it has been created, your Nordita account should be invisible to you, and the only thing you need to remember are your KTH account username and password.
If you arrived at Nordita before the summer of 2010, you may also have the following:
- A SU Account
- This is a legacy account (also with mailbox and home directory), and our intention is to eventually move everyone to KTH accounts.
