INSTALL PRINTOMAT ON WINDOWS

To install the Printomat service on a laptop with Windows, you need to connect to a network printer with name

\\printomat.su.se

In the process you will install the driver for this printer and authenticate with your Stockholm University username and password.

The printomat service only works if your computer is connected to a Stockholm University network

At Nordita this means that your computer needs to be connected either:

  • over a wired network connection; there are network cables at every office desk at Nordita,

or

  • over a wireless network together with VPN.

System requirements: Windows 10 and later.

Original instructions at the SU IT Helpdesk for Windows 10. The instructions should work also for Windows 11.


Install the Printomat on Windows 10 and 11

  • Open the "Search in Windows" window by clicking on the search icon in the taskbar. Type

    \\printomat.su.se

    Confirm by clicking [Enter].

  • A window opens with an icon for the remote printer "printomat2". (Note that there may be another one called "printomat"; this is an old version you should no longer use.) Double-click this icon (or right-click an select "Connect" from the pop-up menu).

  • A login dialogue opens. Fill in your Stockholm University username in the following form:

    winadsu\yourusername

    So if your username is nbohr, you should type

    winadsu\nbohr

    The password is your usual Stockholm University password.

    Important! Make sure you check "Remember my credentials". If you don't check this option, you will have to authenticate every time you print a document. Finally confirm with "OK".

  • Installation of the driver starts. If prompted, accept the installation.

  • The printomat queue "printomat2" should now appear in any printing dialogue.
