Home page: GalileoMobile - Under the Same Sky
GalileoMobile is a purely non-profit initiative run by astronomers, educators, and science communicators since 2008. It is a traveling science education program that brings astronomy closer to young people around the world, and mainly across regions that have little or no access to outreach actions. By organizing astronomy-related activities in schools and villages, we aim at fostering a will of learning through the exciting wonders of our Universe. For this we provide the places we visit with educational material as well as on-going support, so that educators can pursue astronomy activities after our visits.
GalileoMobile has also produced two documentaries, Under the Same Sky and In the Land of Beauty, as well as one photobook, Khagol Rath, on its 2009, 2012 and 2013 expeditions.
In 2015 GalileoMobile will embark on yet another astronomical adventure: GalileoMobile Constellation! This project will bring together schools from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru to create a South American network of schools committed to bringing the exciting world of astronomy closer to their students.
Nordita has supported GalileoMobile since its beginning. In 2015 the IAU has decided to officially endorse Constellation as a Major Cosmic Light program of the International Year of Light 2015, and the Office for Astronomical Development has decided to officially sponsor about 30% of the entire project.'
