Bookable rooms at AlbaNova (including the Nordita building) are divided into two categories: larger auditoria, seminar rooms and class rooms, and smaller research group rooms. The seminar rooms at Nordita belong to the second category.
In the two buildings used by Nordita, there are four bookable rooms:
Seminar rooms:
Lunch/group rooms:
During Nordita programs or workshops, the Nordita main seminar room is reserved for the events. For this reason most seminars and meetings arranged by Nordita staff use the seminar room in the Nordita west building.
The seminar rooms have ceiling-mounted projectors. The remotes are in the rooms. Ask if you want to borrow a projector for the lunch rooms. The Nordita main seminar room has a DVD-player and a 5.1 surround system.
The rooms can bee booked using the AlbaNova Room Booking System rooms.albanova.se. A plus icon in the calendar for a particular room means that the room is free to be booked that date and time. You need to log in to the system to make a reservation. If you can't log in, please ask Hans Mühlen or Axel Brandenburg to add you to the list of bookers.
If you arrange a seminar where you expect a large audience, and the Nordita seminar rooms are unavailable or too small, you can try to book one of the larger seminar rooms or lecture rooms or the auditoria at AlbaNova. See this list of bookable larger rooms at AlbaNova. The lecture rooms and auditoria are primarily used for undergraduate classes, but can bee booked if they are available.
All rooms have ceiling-mounted projectors. You need to check out the remote for the projector from the AlbaNova reception. The two auditoria also have a loudspeaker system, microphones can be obtained from the reception, and video capacity. The AV systems in the two auditoria have a personality of their own, so for large and prestigious events you might want to ask for help from the AlbaNova internal services (via the reception) to check everything in advance.
The AlbaNova auditoria, seminar rooms and lecture rooms can only be booked through the AlbaNova reception on the fifth floor in the AlbaNova main building, just to the left of the main staircase. Call 8444 (or 08-5537 8444 externally) or send an e-mail to reception@albanova.se. Make sure to mention that the booking is made in the name of Nordita.
For planning, use this list of availability of lecture rooms at AlbaNova.
Each department at AlbaNova has a number of group rooms set aside for their research groups. Most of these rooms are in the AlbaNova main building. Several of the seminar series co-organized between Nordita and the theoretical physics departments of KTH and Stockholm University usually take place in group rooms in the A5 or A4 corridors. Se the full list of group rooms at AlbaNova.
The group rooms are rather small, with 15-20 seats at most. Some have ceiling-mounted projectors, for others you have to bring your own projector. Rules differ between research groups where the remote for the projectors is kept.
The rooms can bee booked (free of charge) using the AlbaNova Room Booking System rooms.albanova.se. In case of booking conflicts, the research group the room belongs to always has priority. Login is required for booking, and if you think you should have the right to book a group room but don't get logged in, please contact the administrator of that room.
