CALL FROM NORDITA PHONES

Telephone services at Nordita (and AlbaNova) are supplied by Stockholm University. See Support for Fixed-Line Telephony at Stockholm University (in Swedish) for details on available telephony services. Some of these are summarized below.

If you have any questions regarding fixed-line telephony at Nordita, please contact Anne Jifält.

How to Call from a Nordita Telephone

The following rules apply both to calls on fixed-line telephones and to using our fax machine.

To call a number within AlbaNova/Nordita

Just dial the last four digits of the number.

Example: to call Anne Jifält at Nordita with phone number 08-5537 8436, dial:

8436

To call outside of AlbaNova/Nordita within Sweden

First dial two zeros, then the area code without the leading zero, and then the number.

Example: to call Ulf Lindström in Uppsala with phone number 018-471 3298, dial:

00 18 471 3298

To call abroad

First dial four zeros, then the country code without leading zero, then the local number.

Example: to call Helle Kiilerich in Copenhagen with phone number +45-3532 5227, dial:

00 00 45 3532 5227

How to Log In or Out a Telephone Set

A telephone set is assigned a specific 4-digit extension by a login procedure. You can only receive calls to a phone in a logged-in state, but you can make outgoing calls regardless if the phone is logged in or not.

To log in with a four-digit extension 8nnn, dial (where of course you should replace "8nnn" with the actual extension):

* 11 * 8nnn 55 * 8nnn # C

To log out, dial:

# 11 # C

You can see which state the phone is by looking at the display.

  • On the display of a logged-out phone there is a five-digit number starting with "5"
  • The display of a logged-in phone shows the assigned four-digit extension, starting with "8"

Switch to Tone Dial Mode

Several telephone services have menus where you select an option by pressing a digit key. Curiously enough, this doesn't work in the default state of the Stockholm University telephones.

To switch to "tone dialing" mode, first dial the number, and when you are prompted to make a menu selection, first press 9 and then continue with the menu selection.

The telephone returns to default mode after each call, so you need to repeat the procedure for each call that requires tone dialing.
