Director, NORDITA, Copenhagen, Denmark
NORDITA, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics in Copenhagen, invites applications for the position of Director from 1 August 2002. NORDITA is an institute under the Nordic Council of Ministers for the purpose of conducting research and creating competence of a high international standard in theoretical physics. NORDITA encourages and develops Nordic collaboration in basic physics research and training.
The Director should have an excellent research record, experience of managing an institute or research group as well as administrative competence. The position requires good communication skills in spoken and written English and in a Nordic language, close knowledge of Nordic affairs, and extensive Nordic and international contacts. The Director is expected to share his/her time equally between scientific research and administrative tasks.
The Director is normally appointed for a term of four years, which can be extended for at most another four years. According to an agreement between the Nordic countries, employment at NORDITA is legally equivalent to government service, and leave of absence is granted by Nordic universities.

Assistant Professor in Theoretical Physics, NORDITA, Copenhagen
Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, expects to have an opening for an assistant professor starting in September 2002, or some other date to be agreed upon. The position is in subatomic physics, which includes nuclear, hadronic, particle and astroparticle physics.

Visiting Faculty Position Theoretical Astrophysics
The Department of Physics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (http://www.phys.ntnu.no/index-e.html) - NTNU - in Trond-heim, Norway, is accepting immediate applications for a Visting Faculty Position for the 2001/2002 Academic Year begining in August 2001, with a possible prolongation for at least one year, in the field of theoretical astrophysics and/or astro-particle physics. The position is at the level of a professorship or assistant professorship. The person to be hired is expected to take part in the teaching of astrophysics at both graduate and under-graduate levels. The department has strengths in fields such as astrophysics, biophysics, con-densed matter physics, high-energy physics and quantum optics.
